2022 - Bachelor Amsterdam
Ileana is a 3rd year Bachelor student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the prestigious class of the Dutch saxophonist Arno Bornkamp.
As I fell in love with the Dutch saxophone school, I also fell in love with the characteristic sound of the saxophones that are used in Netherlands.These instruments allow a development and a way of playing that is extremely expressive, that has a wide range of colours, and an incredibly warm sound. Often these instruments are older (made before the 90’s), as their manufacturing process was mainly handmade, allowing a perfectionism and uniqueness that the most recent instruments tend to lack of. Considering this, I started looking for older soprano saxophones that would full-fill my wishes of sound and possibilities.

Saxophone players are used to study multiple instruments of the saxophone familiy. We were impressed by the application and the recordings shared by Ileana.
