“The sophisticated style of Oriol Marès & Talal Fayad Quartet has captivated an intergenerational audience beyond national borders.” — La Vanguardia
Asia Tour
In 2026, the Oriol Marès & Talal Fayad Quartet will perform as Jazz Headliners at ClarinetFest 2026 in Incheon, South Korea, (see here) one of the most important international events dedicated to the clarinet. The festival has featured renowned artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Martin Fröst, Eddie Daniels and Giora Feidman. The quartet will present their project Estuarium and collaborate with Japanese clarinetist Eiji Taniguchi, strengthening artistic connections in Asia.
Building on this invitation, the quartet is extending the tour to China, with concert offers from Blue Note Beijing and JZ Club Shanghai, while expanding opportunities to present their music to new audiences. The project has already received support from Musica Máxima and Ibermúsicas.
The Project
Oriol Marès & Talal Fayad Quartet fuse clarinet and Arabic oud into a contemporary Global Jazz sound that brings together Arab modal traditions, Latin polyrhythms, and jazz improvisation. After participating in the International Residency program at La Marfà (Girona) and being selected as a project-in-residence at the Centre National de Création Musicale VOCE through the Rawabet programme coordinated by Ettijahat – Independent Culture, the quartet has performed in Spain, France, Italy, and the Netherlands, including appearances at Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, MENA Festival Groningen, VOCE Còrsega, and Het Concertgebouw. With Lucas Zegrí (drums) and Thodoris Ziarkas (double bass), they released their debut album Estuarium, featured in the World Music Charts Europe and selected among the Best 2025 Iberian Roots Albums by LIMúR. The quartet is currently expanding its international presence, with upcoming performances as jazz headliners at ClarinetFest 2026 in South Korea, alongside concerts in Germany and Belgium and the development of a new project, Uncivilized, scheduled for 2026–27.
